Patrick Coole
Patrick has worked in the livestock export industry since 2010, starting his career as a shipboard stockman for Wellard Rural Exports. Over the past 15 years, he has held a range of roles — from on board vessels to in-market welfare programs.
He spent six years with Halleen Australasian Livestock Traders, where he managed compliance with the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) for cattle exports to Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. This included overseeing third-party audits, managing local teams, and delivering welfare training programs across the supply chain.
In recent years, Patrick has worked as an independent consultant on projects across the live export and red meat sectors. This included supporting AniMark with the development of the LGAP program, overseeing a trial of non-slip rubber matting for the Livestock Export RD&E Program, and trialling artificial intelligence monitoring systems in Australian abattoirs through the Australian Meat Processor Corporation.
He is currently Chief Operating Officer at Impetus Animal Welfare, leading consultancy work focussed on improving welfare outcomes in production, transport and slaughter across Australia and Southeast Asia.
Patrick’s industry involvement includes serving as Vice Chair of the Young Livestock Exporters’ Network, Live Export Representative on the WAFarmers Livestock Council, and as an industry representative on the Livestock Export R&D Advisory Committee (LERDAC).
He holds a Master of Science in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh.
