Dr Anneline Padayachee
Dr Anneline Padayachee is a nutritional food scientist who works at the intersection of science, industry, and society. She’s spent over 15 years turning food science into real-world impact — helping researchers think commercially, helping businesses think scientifically, and helping the public understand both.
With a PhD in nutritional food science and an Honours degree in epidemiology, Anneline has worked across every layer of the food system: from lab bench to boardroom, paddock to policy. She’s led product development in industry, contributed to cutting-edge research on nutrient bioavailability and gut health, advised on commercialisation strategies, and lectured in universities on nutrition, public health, and science communication.
Today, she helps farmers, food companies, and decision-makers connect the dots — showing how agriculture, processing, and food design shape what our bodies can actually absorb and use. Her cross-sector expertise makes her a trusted advisor in navigating complex trade-offs between health, innovation, and accessibility.
Anneline is a professional member of the Nutrition Society of Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST), and serves on the Australian Academy of Science’s National Committees for Nutrition and for Agriculture and Food. She is recognised as a Global Expert by the International Science Council and has been named a Future Food Leader (FIAL), one of Australia’s Top 50 cutting-edge female scientists, and Australia’s Best Performing Science Communicator.
But beyond her credentials lies a deeply personal reason for her work. After facing a life-threatening illness, Anneline didn’t just study nutrition — she lived it. That journey became the catalyst for her mission: to ensure food systems don’t just feed populations, but nourish them.
Today she’s a sought-after speaker, consultant, and educator, translating evidence into action — and helping the food system see nutrition not as a checkbox, but as a cornerstone of equity, dignity, and global wellbeing.
